Eco Focus: From Earth to Table
Cooking "from earth to table" means we pay attention to food starting with
its very origins, not from when it gets to the supermarket, and keep paying attention
long after the plates are all cleared from the table. Check out our ongoing Garden of Eatin log here!
Inspired
Food is the subject of a great deal of art. We've got a rotating selection of both visual art and
writing to inspire you!

Culinary Communion's Philosophy
In this age of email and voice messaging, we as a society have become more isolated from one
another and more divorced from the traditions and heritage that we grew up with, that keep us
whole. Our connection to each other and to the earth grows weaker every year. This weakening
makes us hungry. We hunger for something we can feel, for what we know in our bones is real and
important, for a life in which the hassles of every day seem further away and the warm light of
friendship and community shines on us, bringing us out of our isolation.
And when we start to wax poetic about the "good old days" of family togetherness and friendship,
many of our memories have a common thread: food. Our memories of food, be they of the
kitchens of our youth or of the dinner parties of last week, remind us that we are connected to
something larger. Those who create our food have always been the architects of that connection,
that homecoming...that communion.
Food nurtures our bodies and our spirits. Culinary Communion celebrates the way food and wine
bring people together, not only to eat but also to love and to enjoy life.
