Cooking Getaway to Maui               Winter Foodie Retreat

Winter Foodie Retreat 2003

Thanks to everyone who attended this year's Winter Foodie Retreat. We greatly enjoyed ourselves, your company, the opportunity to relax, and of course the food and wine! For pictures of the retreat, thanks to Jill, click here.

The Winter Foodie Retreat is a weekend of food, fun, and relaxation with friends new and old, lovers of food and wine, in a beautiful snowy setting. We'll carpool to Natapoc Lodging, 14 miles west of Leavenworth, and stay Friday and Saturday, February 21 and 22, 2003, in their Mahsahwe Lodge. CC will coordinate dinner Friday; breakfast, lunch, and dinner Saturday; and breakfast Sunday; everyone's welcome to pitch in and help cook, just like class. There's a hot tub and fireplace, and plenty of space to relax. Nearby Stevens Pass (one-half hour away, ) and Mission Ridge (1 hour away) offer skiing and other winter activities if the cooking, wine drinking, snow-angel making, hot tubbing, and general hedonism aren't enough for you. We will also try to organize a horseback ride through the snow.

The retreat will be limited to approximately 16 people, including Gabriel and Heidi. The lodge has several bedrooms, but they're not private. Rooms are described on the Natapoc web site, but basically it's three or four beds to a big room. It's very comfortable and cozy.

Rates will vary slightly depending on the exact number of people that register, but will be approximately $190 per person for the weekend, including food, lodging, and wine (although you'll be encouraged to bring some to supplement, we'd hate to run out!!!). This fee is calculated to cover expenses but not to make the weekend into a profitable event for Gabriel and Heidi; we're doing this for fun!

This event will be tons of fun and a great opportunity for us to continue expanding the Foodie Community that's what we're all about. As a way for us to thank our students for their very important support of us this year, this event is open to students only.

Please call (206.284.8687) or email us to find out more or to sign up. You can hold a place for yourself with your payment, and cancellation will follow the same rules as our class cancellation policy. Sorry, but registration must be for both Friday and Saturday nights unless you work out a special arrangement with us. The retreat is for adults only (but look for the Beach Weekend again next summer to bring your kids to!).
